Varlet Farm

Our farm was given the name "Varlet Farm’ by British soldiers during WWI. The original farm, situated on Passchendaele territory, was taken by the Hood Battalion Royal Naval Division, in October 1917.
In 1920, the actual buildings were established near the ruins, but on Poelkapelle territory. The border between the 2 villages runs through the buildings.

As farmers, we are confronted every day with the remains of the Great War. In our barn we have a small collection of WWI items, found on the fields of Varlet Farm.

We are close to all the major battle sites, memorials and cemeteries, between Ypres and Passchendaele.

For those who wish to explore the Salient cycling: we have several maps at the disposal of our guests. Bike rental point nearby in Zonnebeke.

We are ideally situated for anyone wishing to research the Ypres Salient. We can also supply help and advice for anyone wishing to trace war graves in the region.
