"The House by the Sea" - a stylish and relaxed family-friendly beach house near Chania in Crete, in a lovely position, situated behind the middle of Chrissi Akti Beach, only a few steps away from the sand..Designed to provide the ultimate in convenience and privacy, for a unique stay, this summer getaway is the perfect place for guests to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life in a unique holiday ambience.From most of the spacious rooms the panoramic views across the Mediterranean sea, to the small island of Lazaretta and the town of Chania, is breathtaking. The traditional main building, is strategically located area, just in the front of the sandy beach and has been carefully renovated to preserve its character.There are two apartments with a shared courtyard and garden and rented together.The whole villa can be booked only by one guest, one family, or two friend-families or relatives, but only by one booking.Both apartments are furnished and decorated with romantic style. The prospect of a totally relaxing holiday in Crete close to nature is completed by the beach, patio and garden. Scheduled flights to Athens arrive daily from just about everywhere. You can then either fly on to Crete or take the overnight ferry. Aegean Air is generally a bit cheaper than Olympic for the domestic hop Athens-Chania, and you can book online.We can arrange for a taxi or hire car to meet you at Chania airport or Souda ferry port.Chania airport is about 30 minutes drive from Chrissi Akti Ferries:If you fly to Athens airport there is a bus to Piraeus (the port of Athens) which takes about an hour, or you can take a taxi. Make sure your flight arrives in time to get to the port.The ANEK line ferries usually leave Piraeus at 21.00 and arrive at Souda (The port for Chania) at 05.30 am the next day. The return ferry leaves Souda at 21.00 and arrives at Piraeus at 05.30.They are very comfortable and you can book a cabin.Souda is about 10 minutes' drive from Chrissi Akti.Walking from the house to Chania town:Continue along the beach of Chrissi Akti, through Aptera beach, continue along the beach of Nea Chora and arrive at the Firkas Fort in the Old TownIt is a very nice bike ride.Finding us by busBuses start at "Nea Katastimata" square, and it is about 10 minutes' ride to the house.The bus stop in Chrissi Akti is 50m from the house (Chrissi Akti station)

Sea view house (120 sq.m, 10 stairs up, sleeps 5 )Three bedrooms offer plenty of light and an airy atmosphere with most of the rooms boasting views of the sea and the garden. Interiors are large, light and spacious with furnishings displaying a mix of traditional Greek and modern facilities. The lovely sitting room has a large bay window seat to take advantage of the sandy beach and sea view. The entrance leads to the dining room and living room, equipped with a fireplace, which adds an antique touch to the otherwise modernized house. Thick stone walls provide an authentic backdrop whilst keeping the house cool during the warm summer months. Outside, a sun lounge area - yacht style wooden deck - overlooks the beautiful sandy beach, the ideal place to enjoy warm summer afternoons. There are two verandas with excellent view. The Sitting / Dining RoomA lovely bright spacious room with a large bay window offering stunning views out to the sea/garden/ countryside/ Chania town, with two sitting areas, fireplace and the dining area. (It also features a double sofa-bed. TV, DVD player, video and CD/radio). A classic cosy dining room with eight comfortable dining table seats. The KitchenFully equipped modern light kitchen with all appliances for a comfortable stay (refrigerator, electric oven and ceramic hob, coffee maker, toaster, juicer, dishwasher, and independent heating system for the winter.)

A pretty garden including an enclosed area, with lovely flowering plants. For families with children the garden offers an unique safe environment due to the closed fences around the property. Everywhere you turn there is a careful attention to detail that provides a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere.Also provided are hammocks, cribs, table-tennis, rackets, and seating corners to relax in the shade. A lovely swimming pool of 30m2 is builted for our guests this month. Please feel free to send us your requests for everything that you would like us to arrange before your arrival and/or during your stay. Need to know

The whole villa can be booked only by one guest, one family, or two friend-families or relatives, but only by one booking. In other words, if you were more than 6, you would take the whole house. Since you were 4 people, you did not need the downstairs space, but we are not aloud to host strangers at the same time as you. This is one villa and depending on the number of the guests, we give one or both spaces.The property is as beautiful as in the pictures, with beautiful & modern decoration and full of charm, the apartment clean and well equipped, the terraces dotted with flowering plants. The owners are absolutely charming while remaining very discreet. Fantastic place, very quiet setting, recommend it to anyone who wants to spend a few days in a quiet and relaxing atmosphere! A accommodation much better than a hotel room!You will not find villas like this, so close to Chania, seafront for 10 people with such a large garden, shade,so many corners to relax, with shops to buy food, restaurants and clean, shallow sea with white sand! The house is splendid and has all sorts of details.

"The House by the Sea" is available from 2pm on the day of arrival. Guests are requested to vacate the house at 10 am on the day of departure. We will try to be as flexible as possible. This will depend on each individual case and other bookings. If we are notified in advance we will try to accommodate guests with difficult flight times. Luggage storage is no problem. The garden with the pool is an oasis in its own right with olive and bougainvillea trees encircling the house. This space provides ample opportunities for both relaxing and entertaining at the generous and shady garden table. From the garden, at sunset, the terrace lounge area provides an ideal setting.A swimming pool of 30m2 is builted in 2023. Inside the property is an information book giving useful tips and advice to help you make the most of your holiday and the surrounding area. Other activities (water sports, sailing courses and other water sports) are available 2 km from the property. 500 m away there is also horse riding. Special note: The houses are not suitable for guests with mobility problems. The houses can be rented together, 9 people in 2 friendly families or couples. Otherwise, they are rented separately. Smoking is allowed outside. Animals is not allowed.It is not suitable for parties and large caterings

Our Beach

Many other beautiful beaches are around, such as Glaros, Aptera and Kalamaki. It’s a good base if you want to be close to town without being in it. It’s also very useful if you have children (the beaches are safer than most beaches on the northwest coast). The beach is a sandy cove with clear water, well organised, with canteens on the beach as well as facilities for swimming and sunbathing (sun beds, umbrellas, sea sports etc). Informal volleyball games can also be played in the afternoons and body surfing and windsurfing atop the waves is possible. During the summer season a lifeguard is on duty.

About Chania

Chania town, located a short drive from the beach house, claims the title of the island’s cultural capital. Make your way through its colourful neighbourhoods to visit the most important sites, such as the Venetian harbour, the Archaeological Museum, the lighthouse and the covered market, and gain an understanding of how the city's multilayered history has unfolded. Do take the time to also include in your explorations some of the exciting, hidden spots off the beaten track, that reflect the eclectic mix of influences that has given Chania its very unique atmosphere. Chania’s hinterland claims the prize for the most spectacular mountain and coastal scenery. Away from the crowds, the sweeping beauty of the island will captivate you. Head for the Lefka Ori Mountains to walk down some of its dozen limestone gorges – of which Samaria Gorge is the longest, best-known and most spectacular. Follow rugged coastal paths along the south coast and visit the laid back coastal resorts of Paleochora, Sougia, Sfakia and Elafonissi. Take leisure drives through the countryside, dotted with picturesque villages, farming land, chapels and scattered ruins.
